Decorative Art 70s (Taschen’s 25th anniversary – Special edition, 2006)
Decorative Art 70s spotlights the futuristic, experimental aesthetic of the 1970s. After the revolutions of the ’60s, the world of design and architecture became an increasingly exciting and fast-moving hotbed of ideas, rife with vehemently opposing schools and movements. In many ways it was a more extreme era for design than the previous decade. Experimentalism was everywhere, and many projects, thought not practical, were forward-thinking visions of a new kind of decorative art and design. Various groups advocated returning to natural methods, rejecting style in favor of craft or pushing the logic of industrial living to its concrete, high-rise extreme. Decorative Arts 1970s includes the work of the decade’s brightest stars, such as Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Luigi Coltani, Ettore Sottsass, Achille Castiglioni, Kisho Kurokawa, Norman Foster, Richard Meier, and Theo Crosby.
Baarit – suomalaisen baarin vaiheita -näyttely Hotelli- ja ravintolamuseossa 01.06.-31.08.2006
Cocktailbaari, jäätelöbaari, keskiolutbaari, minibaari, pystybaari, solmiobaari… Baari-sanaa on Suomessa käytetty monenlaisissa yhteyksissä. Hotelli- ja ravintolamuseon teemanäyttelyssä esitellään suomalaisen baarin historiaa ja nykypäivää. Näyttelyssä on esillä mm. Viipurin Ravintola Lehtovaaran baaritiski, sonkajärveläisen Takko-Baarin kalusteita, 2000-luvun hotellin minibaari, cocktaillistoja ja baari-valokuvia eri vuosikymmeniltä sekä valokuvaaja Liisa Karvosen tänä keväänä kuvaama kuvakavalkadi helsinkiläisistä baareista.

Koskinen & Suppanen -näyttely Designmuseossa 08.06.-06.08.2006
Harri Koskinen ja Ilkka Suppanen ovat suomalaisen nykymuotoilun tunnetuimpia nimiä niin Suomessa kuin ulkomaillakin. Molempien suunnittelijoiden työtä leimaa kansainvälisyys ja pitkäjänteinen yhteistyö yritysten kanssa. Designmuseon Koskinen & Suppanen -näyttely tuo uudelleen yhteen vuoden 2000 nuoret muotoilijat ja luotaa heidän monipuolisia uriaan suunnittelijoina. Näyttely jakaantuu kahteen osaan, joista toinen esittelee heidän suunnittelemiaan tuotteita ja toinen taas luo katsauksen heidän tulevaisuuden suunnitelmiinsa ja unelmiinsa. Linkin näiden näyttelyn eri osien ja kahden muotoilijan välille luo Taideteollisen korkeakoulun näyttelyä varten tuottama filmi, joka avaa Koskisen ja Suppasen muotoilun lähtökohtia ja perusperiaatteita sekä muotoilun merkitystä laajemmin vahvistaen sitä vuoropuhelua, jota Harri Koskinen ja Ilkka Suppanen sekä heidän tuotteensa käyvät. Näyttelyssä on esillä molempien muotoilijoiden uusia tuotteita ja prototyyppejä, jotka ovat nähtävillä ensimmäistä kertaa niin Suomessa kuin kansainvälisestikin.
