Andreya Triana: Lost Where I Belong (Ninja Tune)
While the title of Andreya Triana’s debut album suggests that she doesn’t know where she’s going or where she’s come from, few things could be further from the truth. Whether working with Flying Lotus, Theo Parrish, Mr Scruff or Bonobo, Triana has been herself and only herself. Her refusal to conform has meant that her path to this release hasn’t been as smooth as she might have liked, taking in shifts as a sushi waitress, stuffing envelopes and working in a hearing aid shop. But she has continued on her musical journey, a journey which “Lost Where I Belong” came to chronicle. Of the title of the record she says “it’s about still feeling lost even though you know what path you should be taking in life. It’s also a song about keeping the faith despite it all!” Triana’s faith was rewarded when she met Simon Green aka Bonobo, who not only featured her on his “Black Sands” album but asked if he could produce her own record.

Hot Chip -vokalisti Alexis Taylor dj-keikalle Helsinkiin
Hot Chipin vokalisti ja keulahahmo Alexis Taylor saapuu alkusyksystä Helsinkiin. Ensimmäistä kertaa Suomessa vieraileva brittiartisti soittaa dj-keikan Club YK:ssa 31. elokuuta. Neljä albumia julkaissut Hot Chip on jo vuosia kuulunut elektropopin suosituimpiin yhtyeisiin. Lukuisista hittibiiseistään, kuten “Over and Over”, “Boy from School”, “Ready for the Floor” ja “One Life Stand”, tunnettu yhtye on kerännyt mainetta myös kymmenillä remiksauksillaan ja kiertueillaan esimerkiksi LCD Soundsystemin ja The XX:n kanssa.

Liljan Loisto – Takaisin Karjalan maille
Liljan Loisto on suomireggaejäbä Puppa J’n ja iskelmäjazzlaulaja Yonan tähdittämä ja rytmisektio Punky Reggae Bandin tahdittama kokoonpano, joka soittaa Karjala-aiheisia vapauslauluja reggaesävelin. Suurten ikäpolvien kiihkein kotiseutunostalgia raikaa rajantakaisen Karjalan suomalaiskyliin ja Kannaksen mannuille. Yonan aistikas versiointi Annikki Tähden Muistatko Monrepos’nista avaa pelin. Takaisin Karjalan maille pitkäsoitto ilmestyy syyskuussa. Tällaisilla bassotaajuuksilla eivät entisajan savikiekot myllänneet.

Cumbia Bestial (Chusma Records)
Cumbia – a musical style few had heard of until not so long ago. But since 2008 at the latest, the Carribean offbeat groove has been explosively rediscovered at clubs and festivals in the USA and Europe. 10 Corso Como – Ares/Eros (Irma Records)
The harmony of complementary opposites and dualities has been the main inspiration of the 10 Corso Como compilations since “Yin and Yang” in 2001. The new compilation “Ares/Eros” represents the duality of love and war: Eros is the expression of unconditional Love, Ares is the Lord of War. The One splits in Two and the Two piece together into the One, back to the Unity. The compilation conceived on the co-eternal binary opposition introduces not to epitomes of hatred and rage, but more simply to sounds more cutting and barbed than others, that can even bring to light a softly suave trait.
