Timanttikoirien vuosi 1984
Timanttikoirien Vuosi 1984 on dokumenttielokuva 1980-luvun alun suuresta kulttuurisesta murroksesta Helsingissä. Se kertoo alakulttuureiden murtautumisesta ulos klubeilta, taidegallerioista ja esiintymislavoilta suuren yleisön tietoisuuteen. Uuden sukupolven edustajat avasivat taiteen, uuden itseilmaisun ja yksilöllisyyden keinoin suomalaisen yhteiskunnan kohti nykyisin tuntemaamme kansainvälistä, avointa, yksilöllistä ja tyyliltään viileää ilmapiiriä. Nämä ihmiset tekivät omasta elämästään yksilön taidetta, osa vain olemalla, osa taiteen kautta. Oma elämäntapa ja murtautuminen ulos jäykän suomalaisuuden puristuksesta maksoi monelle paljon, joillekin jopa heidän henkensä.

Photography Hijacked
Photography Hijacked, a documentary film by Jack Pam, is a journey through the processes, techniques and outcomes of 12 unique photographers from Australia and America. The idea that individuality of process is what underwrites and makes possible all interesting artwork is explored with each new artist in the film representing a new way of looking at the contemporary medium of photography.

And there’s Kate’s free-floating 21st century malaise – the problem of how to live well and be a good person when poverty, homelessness, and sadness are always right outside the door. Please Give is writer/director Nicole Holofcener’s perceptive – and devastatingly funny – take on modern life’s contradictions, good intentions and shaky moral bearings.

Espoo Ciné 2010
Viime vuonna kymmenpäiväiseksi kasvanut Espoo Ciné järjestetään 20.-29. elokuuta. Festivaalin avajaiselokuvana esitetään Fatih Akinin uutuus Soul Kitchen ja päätöselokuvana Thomas Vinterbergin Submarino. Festivaalin ohjelmiston rungon muodostaa uusin eurooppalainen draamaelokuva. Tämän vuoden ohjelmistossa erityisen vahvana ovat esillä ranskalaiset elokuvat. Sarjassa esitetään mm. François Ozonin Le Refuge, Sébastien Lifshitzin Plein Sud ja Emmanuelle Bercot’n ohjaama Mes chères études. Italialaista väriä festivaalille tuo Ferzan Özpetekin riemastuttava uutuus Mine Vaganti. Méliés d’Argent -kilpasarjassa esitetään mm. Hélène Catet’n ja Bruno Forzanin esikoispitkä Amer. Festivaalin koko ohjelmisto julkistetaan heinäkuussa.
